Three common data analysis tools for generating statistics are SPSS, STATA, and SAS. All of these require software licenses as well as mastery for valid outputs. Most empirical legal researchers have experience with at least one of these products through their multidisciplinary work in the social sciences. Vermont Law and Graduate School does not provide any of these licenses because they are not part of our standard curricula.
For empirical legal researchers without existing statistical software expertise, the R Commander tool provides a graphical user interface for the free open source R statistical software.
