Committee Prints provide information to committees concerning issues that may become the focus of legislative attention and to assist policy formulation. They are not always connected to a specific bill. They are generally internal background information working papers and not always publicly distributed. Procedures for the printing and publication of committee prints differ with each committee, and formats are inconsistent.
The text of selected committee prints can often be found back to the 1990's using GovInfo, and FDSys (use the Advanced Search feature and filter by Congressional Committee Prints), on Lexis from 1994 through 2003, and on HeinOnline back to 1919. Citations/References to committee prints can also be found using ProQuest Congressional back to 1970.
